Attendee FAQs

General:

The IIPS Conference, organized by the Institutional Information Processing System users group (IIPS), brings together professionals from the 58 North Carolina community colleges and the North Carolina Community College System Office. Attendees represent a diverse range of roles, including IT staff, Curriculum, and Continuing Education Student Services personnel. Our conference schedule comprises three events annually: a virtual Spring conference for IT staff, an in-person Summer conference open to all, and an in-person Fall conference primarily for IT staff. The sessions are designed to focus on topics such as best practices, new technology trends, roadmaps, and more.

Spring Conference (IT Staff): • Who Should Attend: CIOs, System Admins, Cybersecurity Professionals, Network Engineers, PC Techs. • Topics Covered: Cybersecurity updates, addressing business challenges, best IT practices, exploration of new technology, and more. Please note that the Spring conference does not feature vendor participation.
Summer Conference (IT Staff, Curriculum, Continuing Education Student Services): • Who Should Attend: IT Staff, Curriculum Specialists, Continuing Education Student Services Personnel. • Focus Areas: Best practices for enhancing the student experience, technology to support student engagement, addressing business challenges, insights into roadmaps from vendors and the System Office, compliance issues, and more.
Fall Conference (IT Staff): • Who Should Attend: CIOs, System Admins, Cybersecurity Professionals, Network Engineers, PC Techs. • Topics Covered: Updates on cybersecurity, exploration of best IT practices, introduction to new technologies, and more.

To submit your session ideas, simply visit the conference website and click on the "Submit Session Ideas" link. Each session is allotted 50 minutes. If a vendor is leading a session, it is required that they co-present with a school representative, discussing the implementation of their product or services within the school. The executive team thoroughly reviews session proposals, determining their appropriateness for the conferences and either approving or disapproving them. Attendees who lead or participate in panel discussions will receive a registration discount code. We highly encourage everyone to contribute session ideas, as your input plays a crucial role in shaping a rewarding conference experience for all attendees.

The IIPS conferences currently feature a virtual component exclusively in the Spring. Unfortunately, extending virtual components to the Summer or Fall events is not feasible due to financial constraints associated with supporting in-person events. We appreciate your understanding and look forward to maximizing the virtual experience during the Spring conference.
